Quentin Virgil Petit, Jr., 49, of 41 Due West Drive, Leicester, died Friday, October 13, 2006, at Mission Hospitals. A native of Anderson, SC, he was a son of Evelyn Moore Petit and the late Quentin Virgil Petit, Sr. and was also preceded in death by a brother, John Earl Petit. He worked as a survey engineer for the City of Asheville for 19 years and was currently employed with Ed Holmes & Associates Professional Land Surveying. Mr. Petit was an umpire and coach with Emma Youth League. He loved playing soft ball and basketball and was a fan of the Tarheels, Cardinals and Redskins. In addition to his mother, Mr. Petit is survived by his wife of 30 years, Pamela Anders Petit; daughter, Nicole Ruth Petit; sister, Dru Westall; many nieces and nephews including a special great-niece, Avery. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend Mike Anderson and Mr. Stan Dotson officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park with Rickie Harper, Dee Harper, Jeff Anders, Anthony Cook, Nathanael Anders and Stuart Westall serving as pallbearers. His family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home and request that memorials be made to the Emma Youth League, c/o Emma Elementary School, 37 Brickyard Road, Asheville, NC 28806.

    Quentin’s love for his family was clear to see. And he was a good friend to me. He always showed such patience and caring. I’ll always remember him and his sense of humor. He is missed.

    AS I SAID BEFORE IT SEEMS JUST LIKE A DREAM THAT QUENTIN COULD HAVE GOT SICK SO QUICK AND NOW IS GONE FROM US ALL. I REMEMBER ONE TIME WHEN HIM AND I WERE GOING TO GET RICH ADDRESSING EVEVLOPES DURING OUR FREE TIME AT WORK, WAS THAT A JOKE . WE LAUGHED ABOUT THAT ALL THE TIME ..
