Ramona Henderson Melton, 77, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2020.

A native of Augusta, AR, Ramona was a daughter of the late Willard and Barbara Charles Henderson. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Cecile Henderson.

Mrs. Melton retired from Van Winkle Law Firm, where she spent more than 36 years as a paralegal. She was also a very talented musician.

She was an active member of Asheville Family Church involved in various forms of ministry, particularly as a youth leader.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Arnold Melton; daughter, Karla Moore and husband Jeff; son, Darrell Melton; sister, Martha Henderson; granddaughter, Mona Grace Melton; grandsons, Michael Moore and wife Lindsey and Matthew Moore and wife Sarah; and great-grandson, Wyatt Moore.

The funeral service for Mrs. Melton will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, September 14, at Asheville Family Church. Pastor Rolf Woodard will officiate. Mrs. Melton will lie in repose at the church on Monday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Face coverings will be available at the church. A private interment will take place at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Asheville Family Church, 530 New Leicester Highway, Asheville, NC 28806.

  15. From the time we met when you were eight and I was nine, you, Marty and I have been the best of friends. You were at my house, or I was at yours. We sang together. We never ever had an argument. Marty, remember when Brother Henderson’s name was called out for Akron, oh at the State Convention. The very first church to be called. That meant you were moving away from me. I let out a yell. Mona finally got me outside so the overseer could continue. I cried all the way home. Ramona and Marty has been such a wonderful influence in my life. I love, love, love you.

Arnold, Karla and Jeff, Darrell, Aunt Marty and the rest of the family: I pray that God will give you strength and comfort. Ramona is up in heaven with Papa Henderson, her mom and sister. Heaven gained a wonderful angel!

    Boyce and I were sad to learn of Ramona’s death. While I didn’t know her well, I remember her as someone who always had a smile for us when we were together. Reading the other tributes, I wish I had known her better. We pray for God to provide comfort as you grieve.

  30. Prayers for all the family during this time of your great loss. It is not easy to lose a loved one but our God will supply every need. I have been praying for each of you for sometime now. Sister Marty is a dear friend and she has kept me posted on Sister Ramona’s condition. I pray our loving Savior wraps His loving arms around each of you and give you that special peace and comfort that comes only from Him.
