Randy Swilling

randy swilling

December 22, 1965 ~ December 31, 2024

Born in: Haywood Co., NC
Resided in: Canton, NC

Randall “Randy” Scott Swilling, 59, passed through the pearly gates of Heaven on December 31, 2024. He was the son of late Barbara Parham, Robert “Pappy” Parham, and Albert Swilling. He was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Lucille “Lou” Reid; niece, Leslie Swilling; granddaughter, Madalyn Grace; and best friend, Robert “Robbie” Mobley.

Randy enjoyed tinkering on his hot rods, being outside and more than anything he loved spending time with his family. He loved NASCAR and the Dallas Cowboys. Randy’s love and support for his family and friends was unmatched. He was an amazing husband, father, father-in-law, brother, uncle and an even better papaw. He was always there when you needed him. There was never a doubt that you could always count on him. His presence brought so much light to the ones around him and now his absence leaves a void within the hearts of the ones closest to him.

To know him, was to love him. He was a true nonconformist who lived life by his own rules and with his own terms. He was one of a kind.

Randy was a true pillar of strength. He came face to face with more challenges in the last 10 years of his life than most people come to head with in their entire lifetime. Despite everything he had gone through he never expressed a single sign of weakness. He faced every obstacle with a smile on his face and kept a positive attitude through it all. Randy’s resilience was incomparable.

He is survived by his wife, Denise Swilling; son, Levi Swilling; daughter-in-law, Haley Swilling; his grandsons, Christian Swilling, Brayden Swilling, and Landon Swilling; his granddaughter, Raelynn Swilling; sister, Kathy Cassada (Norman); brothers, Ricky and Mike Swilling (Trish); and many dear nieces and nephews.

Randy will be missed terribly, but the memory of him will live on forever.

Visitation will be held at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. on Monday, January 6, at 1:00 p.m. The memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Dennis Anderson will officiate. Burial will then take place at Green Hills Cemetery.
