Ray Wallace Fowler, 91, of Candler, died on Monday, October 23, 2023, at the Charles George VA Medical Center.

Mr. Fowler was born May 3rd, 1932, in Spring Creek, NC to the late Furman and Addie Cody Fowler.

Mr. Fowler retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1972, after 20 years of service. He worked the next 17 years for the US Postal Service on Brevard Rd, as a Maintenance Manager.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Imogene Keener Fowler; his son, Jeff Fowler of Leicester; his daughter, Sharon Cooke (George) of Fairview; his granddaughter, Megan Bond, (Chad) of Los Angeles, California, his granddaughter, Emily Cooke-Rush, (Chad) of Dallas, Texas, his grandson Jesse Fowler, of Mexico City, Mexico, and his granddaughter Brigitte Fowler-Marshall, (George) of Berea, Kentucky; and his two great-grandchildren, Seymour and Beatrice.

Mr. Fowler was a faithful member of Pole Creek Baptist Church over 20 years, until illness kept him home, where he watched online as much as he could.

The Receiving Line will be from 12-1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 1st, at Pole Creek Baptist Church, with funeral services starting at 1:00 p.m. Pastors Dennis Thurman and Pastor Ben Heise, officiating.

  1. I had the privilege of being Ray Fowler’s next door neighbor. The Fowlers are such sweet family. They watched my brother Jon and I grow up. He had such a kind smile and sweetness about him. Thank you Mr. Fowler for watching out for my family on Heatherly Drive over the years.

  6. Ray was a beautiful Christian man. Royce still has the walking cane that Ray made for him with both their names on it – special keepsake. May the Lord give you His grace and peace to face your loss. What a reunion we have to look forward to in heaven.

  7. I am sorry to hear about Mr. Fowler. I t sounds like he was a good man and did a lot of good. He raised a very good daughter in Sharon whom I have been friends with for many years. Thoughts and prayers are with Sharon and all loved ones.
