Rev. Ernest M. Ingle, 89, of 1252 Brevard Road, Asheville, died Saturday, April 27, 2002, at his home. Rev. Ingle was born in Fletcher and was a son of the late Hugh Monroe and Laura Morrow Ingle. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Catherine Gasperson Ingle and by a son, Douglas Ingle. He retired in 1975 after 33 years with American Enka. He was a former associate pastor of Beaverdam Freewill Baptist Church which he helped establish along with Rev. Robert E. Harris. He was the first minister ever to preach on radio station WSKY (1946) and he was a member and served on the Board of Directors of the Asheville United Christian Church. He is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Rev. Gene Parisher of Norfolk, VA, Jeanette and Harvey Jenkins of Leicester, Ramona and Rev. Larry Nix of Asheville and Cornelia and Charles Garren of Knoxville, TN; five sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Helen Ingle and Ronald and Marica Ingle of Candler, Rev. Kenneth and Joyce Ingle of Asheville, Richard and Jeri Ingle of Old Fort, and Marcelle and Brenda Ingle of Canton; 37 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm Tuesday at Asheville United Christian Church, 10 Roberts Street, with the Revs. Robert E. Harris, Larry Nix, Keith Nix and Gene Parisher officiating. Burial will be at Beaverdam Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. His sons wil be pallbearers and grandsons will be honorary pallbearers. Rev. Ingle will taken to the church Monday evening where his family will receive friends from 7 - 9:00 pm and at other times the family will be at his residence. The family wishes to express special thanks to Rhonda Kuykendall, RN and Ida Chandler, CNA with VHP and Elisha Kilbourne, RN and CNAs Linda McMahan and Katrina Turner and volunteer Dean Fitzpatrick from Hospice. You all did a super job.

  5. I send my condolences to Earnest’s family. I know he will be missed by all who knew him. I shared my lunch hour many days with Ernest at J&S Cafeteria. He ate lunch there almost every day. He was very sweet and friendly. It was my pleasure to know him.
