Reva Viola Parham Sluder, 92, formerly of Bear Creek Road, Leicester, died Thursday, October 10, 2013, at her daughter's home in Canton. Mrs. Sluder was born in Leicester and was a daughter of the late John S. and Sara Worley Parham. She was married to William A. "Wimp" Sluder, who died in 2008, and was also preceded in death by two sisters and eight brothers. Mrs. Sluder was a member of Mountain View Free Will Baptist Church. she often sang at church and she loved gardening and working with her flowers and especially enjoyed helping others. She is survived by two daughters, Linda King and husband, Robert, of Canton, and Kay Compton and husband, Bob, of Fletcher, a granddaughter, Renee Smith and husband, Jeremy, of Goshen, IN; and a sister-in-law, Thelma Parham. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Bill Brown and David Scruggs officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Andy Conard, Calvin King, Edward Parham, Randy Reece, Jeremy Smith and Wayne Ballard. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The family expresses their appreciation to CarePartners Hospice, especially rn, Denise, and cna, Amanda, and to the Memory Care staff. Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to the Mountain View Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
