Rex Earl Hall, 81, of 6 Bradhall Drive, Asheville, died Saturday, December 18, 2010. Mr. Hall was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Roy M. and Martha Lucy Brown Hall. He served in the US Navy from 1950 to 1954, and retired after 45 years with Sears. He is survived by his wife, Betty Dover Hall; one son, Neil Scott Hall and wife, Laura, and two granddaughters, Alyssa and Amanda Hall. Graveside funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Dix Creek Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Leah Brown officiating. His family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue. Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 5 Oak Street, Asheville, NC 28801. The family expresses sincere appreciation to the staffs of the Laurels of Greentree Ridge and to CarePartners Hospice for the loving care they provided to Mr. Hall.

    Thanks for calling me about Rex. It saddened me to see him this summer. We both teared and somehow knew we would not see each other again in this life. There will always be so many memories. He could always make me laugh. May God comfort you and Neil during this time of grief.

  8. I am the granddaughter of Archie and Allie Hall Cole. Allie and Rex’s grandfather were brothers. Though it has been years since I last saw Rex, when we did bump into each other when I was home, he always remembered me. I’m sure he’ll be missed by his family and friends.
