Rhoda Oleta Ownbey Nesbitt, 90, of Fairview, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022.

Rhoda was a longtime member of Nesbitt Chapel Church. She enjoyed quilting, canning, gardening, camping and spending time with her family.

Mrs.Nesbitt grew up in the Flat Creek-Garren Creek community and was the daughter of Andrew C. and Fannie Crawford Ownbey. She was preceded in death by her husband Andy Nesbitt and daughter Joyce Wright.

She is survived by her daughter Gail Nesbitt, son Steve Nesbitt; grandchildren Dawn Effler, Trey Nesbitt, Wendy Wheeler (Todd), Alan Wright (April), Shannon Best; great grandchildren Taylor, Natalie, Katelyn, Samantha, Matthew, Colton; and three great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 12 noon Friday at Nesbitt Chapel Church with Pastor Eric McAbee officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday.

  1. My father’s last sibling. She was a great cook. I enjoyed having her yellow eye beans, homemade bread and butter pickles, cornbread, greens, and family love. She will be greatly missed. My condolences to daughter, Gail, and son, Steve. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Family took great care of her until the end.
