Guestbook

  1. Jane and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Dick was such a sweet funny man. I miss all of the good times when our “group” would go out for dinner and get together for birthdays. Life has changed so much. I will be praying for you and your family. Hope you can find some peace and comfort in the coming days.

  2. My Dear Sweet Jane: Jim and I are so saddened to loose our precious friend, Dick. Dick was a member of our ‘group’ that met at J&S cafeteria on a regular basis and to celebrate birthdays. Oh, how our incredible friend will be missed. We are all devistated in loosing him. I worked alongside Dick at Asheville Parks and Recreation for many years and absolutely loved working with Dick. He was such a funny man. I remember one time the department had a Christmas Party and had a ‘gong’ show. Dick was the star of the show. Dick always loved helping people too. He had a big heart for the little man and the needy. Dick’s position with Parks and Recreation was to oversee the development, planning and overseeing the many parks and other places in the City of Asheville and was an icon in parks and recreation facilities development and care. Dick could fix anything that was broken or needed repair all over town. Dick Meehan was a genius when it came to designing. As a longtime friend of his, I will never get over loosing my buddy and my husband Jim feels the same as I do. We both loved him and considered him family. A few days before Dick passed, our group also lost another precious member, Johnny Mills.
And we will never be the same. These two men, husbands, sons, fathers, grandfathers, brothers and friends will certainly be missed by everyone in our community who were blessed to know them, will never be forgotten because the left footprints all over our city and county. We pray for Dick’s beloved wife, Jane and pray for her and the family that God will give them strength and faith during this time of loss of their family member whom everybody loved.
