Richard Beecher Allen

Richard Beecher Allen, 83, of 7 Rosebud Lane, Fairview, died Friday, December 7, 2001, at his home. A native of Sevierville, TN, he was a son of the late Arthur and Algeia Allen. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sara Moffitt Allen, who died in 1996. He was a retired pipe fitter with Local Union #150 and served in the Army Air Corps. during World War II. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Michael Allen of Seveirville; a daughter, Julia Butts of Fairview; five grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend Don Welborn. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3 Louisiana Avenue, Asheville, NC 28806.
