Richard Carl Watts, Jr.

richard watts, jr.

September 19, 1947 ~ May 7, 2022

Born in: Tryon, NC
Resided in: Lewisville, TX

Today we celebrate the love of Richard Watts. He demonstrated his unconditional love through actions, not idol words. He was a rock to all that knew him.

His creed was run silent…run deep. He needed no recognition as his deeds were from the heart.

Today we celebrate a man who loved God, family, friends and finally was a patriot to our country. His words were invoked in the way he lived his life.

His dash was a wonderful legacy and a tribute to the man he strived to be.

Today he is with our heavenly father until we see each other again.

Richard (Rick) Carl Watts, Jr. took his final flight to his heavenly home on May 7th, 2022. Rick was such a loving Husband, Father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend to so many and had built a legacy of having an impeccable work ethic and an extremely caring heart and kindness towards all he loved and knew.

Rick served in the Air Force, serving two tours in Vietnam.

Rick’s love for baseball (he was called Moose) and a chance at a career playing professionally was superseded by his love for this country and his willingness to fight for some that could not fight for themselves. His memories of his time in service was a large part of the rest of his life as he would tell his children and grandchildren memories of the times.

Rick was preceded in death by his mother and father, Richard Carl Watts, Sr. and Helen (Allison) Watts.

Rick is survived by his loving wife of 50 plus years, Karen (Roberts) Watts; children, Thomas Watts and wife Shana of Plano Tx, and daughter Kimberly (Watts) Gentry and husband Jerry of Trenton, Tx; brother, Eddie Watts and wife Jeannie, of Georgia; sisters, Pat Purvis and husband Don of South Carolina and Carol Watts Holifield of North Carolina; brother in law, Gary Roberts of Weaverville; grandchildren, Lily Gentry, Jerry don Gentry and wife Amber, Lauren Cannon and husband Josh, Kaylee Watts, Jay Herrin, Todd Herrin, and Wendy Gentry; great grandchildren: Baylie Wright, Leilah Raye Gentry and Kayden Herrin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Friday, May 13th at 11:00 am at Green Hills Cemetery in Asheville, officiated by Norris Wright of North Carolina.
