My thoughts are with you since learning of Richard’s passing. We couldn’t live together, but, did remain friends. We’ll all miss him.
To the Nantelle Family –
I was saddened to read about the passing of Richard this morning. As a member of the Planning Department for the City I had the privilege of working with him on many important projects through the years. He was always so pleasant to work with and dedicated enormous amounts of time and energy to the betterment of his community. His smile and energy will be missed!

Our loss is heavens gain. My sincere condolences to Richards family. Richard is and always will be a part of Ashevilles history. He made it and influenced it by his love for Asheville and its citizens. He wrote the book on activism, follow-through and getting the job done and it was my honor and pleasure to have worked with him and call him friend.
Richard, I am sorry about the deaths of your father and grandfather. I know you loved them both very much.

Our family extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has helped us through this difficult time. Thank you for your expressions of sympathy and fond memories of community activism, leadership and caring that my father pursued successfully throughout his life. He has definitely helped instill an affinity for all things Asheville in his family, friends and colleagues by his words and deeds and now through his legacy.
