Richard L. Hill, 67, of 184 Johnston Boulevard, Asheville, died Friday, July 8, 2005, at St. Joseph Hospital. Mr. Hill was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late William L. and Ruth Mauck Hill. He was also preceded in death by a brother George Hill. He was a graduate of Lee H. Edwards High School and served in the US Army from 1961 to 1963. He was employed as a sheet metal worker with Kirk & Blum. An avid fisherman, he was a member of Bassmasters and was also a member of the VFW. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife Grace B. Hill; two sons, William Lee Hill and his wife Robbi of Candler and Robert Ray Hill and his life partner Mark of Asheville; two granddaughters, Christy Hill and Jackie Hill; two sisters Mary Fay Long and Georgia Harrell; and four brothers, Roy, Ray, Lloyd and Floyd Hill. A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Buddy Corbin officiating. Military honors by the Buncombe County Veterans Council will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial donations may be made to a educational trust fund for his grandchildren, in care of the family.
