Richard Lewis Maney Arden ~ Richard Lewis Maney, 85, of 12 Morgan Blvd. in Arden, died Monday, November 10, 2008 at his residence following an extended illness. A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Fred and Bonnie Carter Maney and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his loving wife, Carlene Elizabeth Gillespie Maney; one daughter, Brenda M. Harris and her husband, Kenneth, of Fort Mill, SC; one grandson, Daren B. Williams of Mabank, TX; four sisters, Shirley Warren, Betty Humphries and Wilma Radcliff, all of Leicester and Freida Warren of Chattanooga, TN and two brothers, Fred Maney, Jr. and Perry Maney, both of Leicester. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, November 14, 2008 in the chapel of the Western Carolina Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain. The family will receive friends at the home on Morgan Blvd from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday. Memorials may be made to CarePartners Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.

  4. It is difficult to lose a loved one especially this time of year. Richard and my dad, Harold Dean, were brothers. According to some old letters of Dad’s which date back to the 1940’s, Richard was one of Dad’s favorites. I am sorry to hear of your loss.
