Richard Michael Trantham

richard trantham
Richard Michael Trantham was born on May 29, 1975 to Ross and Patsy Trantham. He departed this world for Heaven on Friday February 13, 2015. He was 39. Our time left on this earth will never be the same without his beautiful smile and his heartfelt hugs. While it may not have been obvious to everyone, Richard loved the Lord. He was a native of Buncombe Co. and graduated from Enka High School. He spent 5 years in Boone, NC, at Appalachian State University where he earned Bachelor's Degrees in Business and Communications. He worked as a surveyor and was a member of Hominy Baptist Church. He loved baseball, football and being outside. He loved all animals, especially his little Jack Russell Terrier that he called "Buddy Bo." Buddy died in 2011. He loved coaching Logan in baseball and watching him play basketball and baseball. He sincerely loved all his friends, too much so at times. He loved family get togethers. In addition to his parents, he is survived by Logan Holbrook Trantham, his son and the light of his life. His grandparents, Wanda and Bill Wilde and Betty Trantham; and by his best friend and brother, Joshua Trantham and Joshua's son Hayden. He is also survived by his "brother" and lifelong friend, James (Jamie) Hale. Richard had many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who mourn the fact that they will never see his beautiful, smiling face again. His girlfriend, Tobin Tucker, loved him dearly. Richard was exuberant in life and gave his family and friends many happy times. He will forever live in our hearts. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Donald Trantham and his maternal grandfather, Francis Clark; his beloved uncle, Lonnie Trantham; and his aunt, Melinda Clark. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at Hominy Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Joe Yelton, the Rev. Dr. Paul Raybon and Rev. Melissa Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. at the church. Flowers are welcome if you so desire or memorials may be made to Hominy Baptist Church, 135 Candler School Rd., Candler NC 28715. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
