Richard Miller Pressley, 73, of 83 Overlook Dr., Leicester, died Saturday, March 17, 2007, at St. Joseph’s Campus Mission Hospitals. An Asheville native, Mr. Pressley was a son of the late H.H. and Mary Miller Pressley. Mr. Pressley retired from Bell South as a cable splicer, and was a member of the Biltmore Masonic Lodge. He was also an avid outdoorsman and lover of nature. He was a member of Paynes Chapel. Mr. Pressley is survived by his wife Dorothy Black Pressley; daughters, Debbie Swayngim and husband Tom, Sandy Pressley and husband Greg McDonell; sons, Randy Pressley and wife Tina, and Richard M. Pressley, Jr.; stepson, Bruce Thompson; brother, Robert Pressley; four grandchildren, Heather and Melissa Swayngim, Daniel Pressley and Jessi Pressley; two step-grandchildren, Brittney and Jacob Thompson. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Rev. Steve Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at Paynes Chapel Cemetery. His family will receive friends 7-8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Paynes Chapel General Fund, P.O. Box 1134, Leicester, NC 28748.
