Richard “Rick” Sheets, 48, of 223 Saint Johns St., Arden, died Sunday, January 21, 2001 at Hospice Solace Center. A native of Elkins, West Virginia, he was the son of Betty Satterfield Sheets of Elkins, WV and the late George Sheets. He was the former owner and operator of South Asheville Shoe Repair and a member of Asheville United Christian Church. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Bonnie Harbert Sheets of Asheville; and a sister, Cindy Calain of Elkins, WV. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Asheville United Christian Church. Pastor Larry Nix and Pastor Keith Nix will officiate. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Elkins, WV. His family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home at where the body will remain until being placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the home of Pastor Larry Nix, 786 New Haw Creek Rd., Asheville. Memorials may be made to Asheville United Christian Church, PO Box 4081, Asheville, NC 28805.
