Mills River ~ Ricky Harold Godfrey, 41, of 255 Laurelwood Drive, Died Thursday, September 12, 2002 in a local hospital. A native of Buncombe County, Mr. Godfrey was a son of Lola Lee Godfrey of Asheville and the late Ralph Harold Godfrey. Mr. Godfrey attended TC Roberson High School and was a truck driver for CL Henderson Trucking Company and formerly Citizens Express. In addition to his mother, survivors include a daughter, Erica Godfrey of Georgia; a son, Drew Godfrey, also of Georgia; a sister, Katherine Evans of Woodfin; his maternal grandmother, Nellie Lee of Asheville and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. A funeral service will be conducted Monday at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road with Rev. Donald Hare officiating. Interment will follow in Shepherd Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at 53 New Rockwood Road, Arden.
