Ricky Joe Brown, 48, of Candler, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2007 with his family by his side. Mr. Brown was born in Buncombe Co. to Bobby Joe and Helen Warren Brown. He worked for 30 years as a grounds keeper at the Biltmore Estate. He loved his family and friends and wanted to take care of them all. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Robert Brown and his fiancee Patty Moody and Kevin Brown; a sister, Kristi Brown of Candler and his lifelong friend, Sandra Rector. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, at Browns View United Methodist Church with Revs. Ed Worley and Billy Clark officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Flowers will be accepted and appreciated or donations may be made in his honor to : Browns View United Methodist Church cemetery fundc/o Mary Lee Allen 21 Bennett Rd. Candler, NC 28715.

  4. I have always considered Ricky ‘ Rock’ a friend although it has been years since I have seen him. I used to play softball with him and some of the fondest memories of my life are of the days and weekends spent in competition with some of the best men on earth. God and the angels have some more good company . My blessings to the family.

  5. I am so sorry to hear of Ricky’s death. I have many fond memories of Ricky all the weekends 4-Wheeling. He was a great friend to me. I know he will be missed. My family’s thoughts and prayers are with the family.

    I meet you a long time ago at your home with your Dad & Mom, If you were anything like your Dad you had to be a good person. I worked with your Dad at parrot tree Service in 1965. I went into the Service in Feb of 1966. Your Dad was the first Person that I had worked with in the public work force. He was always understanding and easy to work with. I know you were like him. Your Dad made a big very possitive impression on my life. May Our Father kept his wonderful hands on your family and your Mom & Dad.

  8. For as long as I can remember Rick had a smile on his face. He was a sweet person and Jason loved to sit and talk with him. And oh how RIley would smile when Rick was holding him. He will be greatly miss. May God Bless you durning this time.

  9. I remember always going to Ricks house on Sunday’s with my dad (Mike Reece) to watch the Race…he had this HUGE change jar that he would always let me raid when I was a kid. I haven’t seen him in years but my thoughts and prayers are with the whole family.
