Robert Fitzhugh “Bob” Smith, 81, of 4 Kingsmill Court, Biltmore Lake, died Monday, December 10, 2007, at Park Ridge Hospital.
Mr. Smith, son of the late Fitzhugh and Katherine McCrystal Smith, was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 7, 1926. He then grew up in Rockville Center, Long Island, NY. He served in the U.S. Navy towards the end of WWII. Following the war, he graduated from Brooklyn Law School, and practiced law in Freeport, NY, until his retirement in 1985.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his brothers, William Smith and wife Irene, and Bud Smith.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 55 years, Muriel Hoffman Smith; son, Jeffrey James Smith and wife Marianne F. Smith; grandchildren, Stephen Christopher Smith and wife Beth, of Woodstock, VA; Marissa Smith, who is finishing her Masters Degree at Southern Illinois University, in Carbondale, IL; and Mackenzie Marie Smith, of Biltmore Lake; and great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Smith, Alex Smith, Briana Smith, and Caitlyn Smith.
A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Pisgah View Memorial Park Mausoleum with the Rev. Don Welborn officiating.
