Robert Lewis McKinney, 85, of The Summit, 100 Riceville Road, Asheville, died Wednesday, January 3, 2001.

Mr. McKinney was born in Anderson, SC, and was the son of the late L.G. and Phronie Hawkins McKinney. He was married to the late Chinara Welch McKinney and was retired as a Material Supervisor with the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co. He was a member of the Biltmore Lodge #446, A.F.&A.M. and a member of Reed Memorial Baptist Church.

He is survived by one sister, Diaz M. Reep of Candler, her children, Gary L. Reep and his wife Annette and Margaret Holmes and her husband Joe, and two nieces, Maxine Swepston and Joyce Hall; several great nieces and nephews; one brother-in-law, James V. Creasman, and a close friend, Christine Huff.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Lester Crayton and Randy Melton officiating. Masonic rites will be conducted by the Biltmore Lodge at Green Hills Cemetery. The lodge will open at 1:00 pm.

His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Friday at the funeral home.
