My heartfelt sympathy & condolences.
Nick was always very kind and friendly to me and my daughters, Kristina & Courtney, when we came to visit Cherokee KOA. One ‘fun’? memory that comes to mind is that Kristina wanted a ride in the red golf cart. He gave me the keys and told me to take her for a ride around the campground. Kristina had a blast. He always had a smile, and that is how he will be remembered.
Rest in peace dear friend.
Marcia, Mike, Kristina & Courtney Augsburger
Our thoughts and prayers are with each and every one of you. May God give you all peace and comfort.

Dear Teresa, Kim, Glenn, Randy & Payton,
I want you all to know how sorry I am for your loss. I would have signed the guest book sooner, but I wasn’t sure how to put my feeling’s for Nick into words. He was an amazing man…of course you already know that! I consider myself very lucky to have spent time with him and to call him my friend. His passion and dedication for the Toys for Tots event of 2003 was something I will NEVER forget. We asked for him to donate his time, man power and his equipment and his answer to everything we asked for was ‘Lets do it’ or ‘I’ll take care of it’! My dad always talked about ‘The Measure of a Man’ and how we should judge people on the works they did and not things they owned or the money they made. I remember looking down at Nick from the van during the Toys for Tots event and thought about what my dad said…Nick looked like he was 15 feet tall!
Your friend,
Chuck Marsh – Breakfast Club

Dear Teresa, There are no words to say to help you through this time of sadness, we realize your sorrow and tears are very personal and private. Please know how much we love you and Nick, and how much you and Nick love all of your employees and their families. You both have given so much and asked for nothing in return. We will always be here for you like you have always been there for us. Just remember we are all one big family and we stick together, even when things seem to be unbearable. All our love, Dale, Deborah and Kaitlyn
Kim & Payton
I know this is the hardest thing you have probably been through in your life. Words can not say how sorry we are for you. Just remember the lives your father and pawpaw have touched and will continue to affect. All the good he has done and that the good Lord has him close by his side and is watching over all of us. A statement that Nick made to all of us, ‘Anything you need, we will be there for you’, remember, we will be there for you, also. Love, Dale, Deborah and Kaitlyn
Kim, Randy, Payton, Theresa and Glenn,
We will forever remember the last time we saw Nick~playing laser tag at Payton’s party. No words can say how deeply sorry we are for you.
To all the family and friends, our sincere sorrow on your loss. We both use to work for another Crane Company, and Nick was kind and helpful in our dealings with him. I called him for donations for a ‘lockup’ I was in for MD, he mis-understood and thought I was in a real jail and wanted to know where to bail me out. 🙂 I will never forget his offer to help me,(and didn’t ask what I had done) or the laughter we shared when he realized it was for charity. We will not forget Nick or his kindness to us both during trying times.
TERESA,I SAW YOU ALL DOWN AT MIKE&CARLAS HOUSE A WHILE BACK AND MY MIND INSTANTLY WENT BACK TO ALL THE GOOD FELLOWSHIP WE HAD WHILE WE WERE ALL ATTENDING MAPLE RIDGE CHURCH AND ALSO SOME OF THE LONG TALKS NICK AND I HAD TOGETHER. WE HAD SIMILAR BACKGROUNDS AND EXPERIENCES IN OUR YOUNGER DAYS AND HE CERTAINLY ENCOURAGED ME AT A TIME WHEN I REALLY NEEDED IT.FOLKS LIKE THAT ARE HARD TO FIND IN THE DAYS IN WHICH WE LIVE. IT WOULD BE HARD FOR ME TO FIND ADEQUATE WORDS TO COMFORT YOU BUT YOU KNOW WHERE TRUE COMFORT COMES FROM AND HE WILL CERTAINLY BIND UP YOUR BROKEN HEART IN YOUR TIME OF SORROW>>>>PHIL.
THERESA I WANT TO LET YOU KNOW HOW SORRY I AM ABOUT YOUR LOSS. I CAN
REMEMBER YOU AND NICK WHEN YOU CAME
TO MAPLE RIDGE BAPTIST CHURCH. MY
HEART GOES OUT TO YOU AND ALL YOUR
FAMILY. MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND
LEAN ON HIM FOR STRENGTH AS I AM SURE YOU WILL GOD BLESS YOU
Our hearts and prayers are with you at this time. We remember you and your family from Asheville Apostolic Church and think of you often. I remember when I first moved to NC, I was invited to your house for a ladies Christmas party.
You are in our thoughts and prayers, Diane Dorn
Kim, Randy, Payton & Teresa:
My heart is so sad for all of you and especially for my best friend, Kim. I wish there was something that I could say or do to take away your hurt and emptiness, but only God and time will heal the hurt. Thank God each day for the wonderful memories that you have of Nick. My last memory of Nick, was last year at the Campground in Cherokee, it was my first trip to NC and Nick and Teresa made my daughter and I feel so welcome. Nick encouraged Kim and I to go rafting down the river and was there with his truck to pick us up at the end. He was a fun, loving guy and had a huge heart. His reward in heaven will be great ! May God bless each of you. I love you all!
My condolences to Nick’s family and friends. I have lost a well-remembered second cousin. I remember Nick’s younger years when he was a ‘barber’ and he always cut my hair when we both lived near Washington, D.C in the early 1960’s. Although I hadn’t seen Nick for almost 40 years, I shall always remember Nick as a very fun-loving wonderful person. Our cousins, Patty Schwartz and Anna Clyde also send their deep condolences. May GOD bless.
Mrs. Teresa,
I am so sorry about Mr. Nick death. i will always remember him and our fires we had every night. He taught me so much this summer. I am so thankful for meeting you both this summer.
Dear Teresa & Family
You have been in my heart, thoughts, and prayers often this past week and my heart cries in pain for you. Words cannot convey or express the sadness I feel for the family. We feel blessed to have known Nick. Everyone that knew Nick has lost a wonderful person and dear friend. Nick’s kindness, generosity and zest for fun will never to replaced or forgotten. Having the friendship with Nick, Teresa, Glenn, Kim, Randy and Payton will last forever. Nick’s love, devotion, and appreciation of Teresa was beyond words. Brook & Shane thinks KOA will not be the same. Neither will I. Be strong and know a lot of people love you and are here for you and your family. May God give you peace and comfort. Love Pat & Larry
