Robert Wendell Griffin 44, of 1778 Smoky Park Highway, Candler, died Saturday, February 3, 2001, at his home.
Mr. Griffin was born in Buncombe County and was employed as an auto mechanic. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Edgar ''Jo-Jo'' Griffin who died in 1993.
He is survived by his parents, Samuel and Emma Jean Poore Griffin; one sister, Rebecca Scroggs of Arnold, MD; and by his grandmother, Kate Crisp of Asheville.
No funeral services are scheduled.

I hated to read that Wendell had passed on and my prayers are with your family.I now work at Mission Hospital and I had seen Wendell at the hospital. It was so good to see him. Wendell was very special.

I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Wendell.I wanted to let you know that in 1982 Wendell called me from California and told me that he had asked Jesus Christ to save him. So I believe he is right now in heaven and we will all see him again. Our prayers are with all of you during this time.
