I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Wishing you and your family love and the comfort that only God can give. Our prayers are with you.

  3. Sharon and kids.. No words can express how devistated I am to hear about your Dad’s passing. He was loved by a lot of people, having touched so many lives here. I have such fond memories of going to the auctions and watching him buy watches like a kid in a candy store! (It’s the little moments that you charish most I guess.) You are all in my prayers. Please call me if I can do anything to help you get thru this a little easier.

  4. I had the pleasure and honor of working for Rod when I did design work in the production department of Iwanna’s Greenville Office. He always stopped by and spent a little time with the Art department whenever he would come to Greenville for meetings.

He was a genuine pleasure to work with and he always did his best to make sure his employees were well taken care of.
    He will be sorely missed.

You have my heartfelt condolences for your loss.

  5. I remember Rodney very fondly from our days at Hall Fletcher and Lee Edwards. I am sorry to hear about his passing. My prayers go out to his family.

    Steve Self

  6. Sharon,
I am so heartbroken for you and your family. Rodney was such a wonderful husband and father and he will be greatly missed. I miss his cheerfulnees when I had the opportunity to talk with him on the phone. I love you and will be praying for you and your family. May God keep you wrapped in His arms through this difficult time.

  7. I have the warmest memories of Rod and my time in sales at Iwanna in the Greenville office. He was always sincere and caring to the staff and customers.
In the summer months he always talked about his love for the water and being on jet skis and boating. He always said he was the biggest kid of his family. The way he spoke of his family was influential in how much time I spent with my mine. For this reason I am so grateful to have known Rod.
I will miss hearing about Rod from our mutual friend Barbara Bloomer. I always enjoyed learning what he was up to since retiring.
I pray for a sense of peace to fall over the family during this time of grieving. Although we don’t know why he crossed over, please be comforted by the love he had for you all.

    With love,
    Allison Hughes Stroud

  19. Sharon,

My heart aches for your loss. It is so hard to understand the loss of someone so loved.
Isaiah 18:4, ‘I will remain quiet and look on from My dwelling place’. God is there, Sharon. He may seem silent but God is very attentive and He knows your every sorrow.

  20. Rod was a wonderful man and great friend. In every business setting he could make those around him feel comfortable and included. I’ve never seen a person who could win over a room full of people like Rod. He was fiercely loyal to his employees without compromising his call for stellar service to customers. He was the best boss I ever had. It cuts deeply to know he’s not there anymore. I will miss his laugh, his love of life, his fearlessness and his constant stream of stories about his kids and grandkids. I will miss his infectious positive attitude and encouragement. Most of all I will miss his friendship. Rod was a great friend, an exceptional mentor and inspiring man.

  21. Sharon,
I am so sorry to hear about Rodney. I will have him and you added to our prayer list in church on Sunday coming. I was always a little jealous of Rodney for winning the prettiest girl in the neighborhood. It doesn’t seem like it has been 50 plus years since we were all riding our bikes on Morris Street. If there is anything Cassie and I can do, please don’t hesitate to let us know. horace.milstead@us.army.mil 504-394-4342.

  35. Sharon: I was deeply saddened at the news of Rodney’s death. He was the sales manager at Nova when I left, the first time. Words are inadequate at a time like this, but God’s word can make a difference. When my sister passed away in 1980, at age 30, the passage from 1st Thessalonians, helped me. ‘The peace of God that passeth all understanding.’ We do not understand why, but can have peace in knowing that God is in control. My deepest sympathy, Larry

  36. My heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to you, Sharon, and your family at this difficult time.

  38. Sharon and family ~ I was deeply saddened to hear of Rod’s passing. He was a fair, hardworking, caring and kind man who had a quick wit and a gleam in his eye when he spoke of his family. To those that believe in and accept the Lord, death is only a temporary separation. I pray that you find comfort in knowing that you will see his smiling face again one day. The will of God never takes you where the Grace of God cannot protect you. Prayers for you all during this most difficult time.

  39. Ann,
Your father was a GREAT GUY. I will always cherish the times we spent ‘coaching the boys’. Please accept my sincere condolences.

  43. Sharon and Family, I came to the service today but had to leave before I had a chance to speak to you. As your son-in-law said, I played football with Rod in the lawn at Vance. We spent a lot of time at the Malvern Hills Pool and had great times at Lee Edwards. I was the Ad manager at Sears when he was at the CT and WWNC, he was a friend but a true pro. Years later, I was the development director at MANNA and IWANNA graciously printed our newsletter. All I can say is, he was a class act, but stayed a good ole’ West Asheville boy and we are all better for having known him.
    Love to you all,
    Donnie Harris

  49. I just found out about Rodney’s death this evening when I picked up the IWANNA. He was my third cousin. He was always so kind and friendly. We spent many hours when I was a little boy at his grandmother’s house on Fairfax. She was my Aunt Virgie and Hamp Brown was my grandfather.
