Roger Allen Hawkins, 62, of Leicester, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Mission Hospital.
A native of Buncombe Co., Roger was a son of Revonda Walker Hawkins and of the late Clarence Glenn Hawkins. He was retired from Eaton.
In addition to his mother, Roger is survived by his brother, Rodney D. Hawkins.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with Pastor Bobby Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Newfound Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

So sorry to hear of Roger’s passing. I have such fond memories of our times together, from high school until our more recent visits at his home. He was so valiant through his medical challenges, and a kind and gentle man. Praying for comfort for all of the family.

I am so sorry for your loss. We had many good times together at work and also playing golf together. I wish you well but I will be unable to attend his funeral. Maybe we will be playing golf together again in heaven.

Praying for the family at this time of loss. I have known Roger since the Winn Dixie days of the late seventies. We also worked at Eaton together. Lots of good times and a lot of laughs. A great person and a good friend for over forty years. I know I will see my friend again someday. Praying that God will comfort your hearts at this most difficult time.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Roger, work with him for nearly 20 years at Eaton, also played a few rounds of golf with him back in those day. My prayers go out to the family for God’s comfort during the coming days.

I am sorry for your loss , Roger was a great friend . I worked with him at Winn Dixie for many years. We always had fun what ever we did , playing golf and at work , he was was always happy . He was a great guy and will be missed by everyone , he will be smiling at everyone when we see him in heaven ,

I met Roger I think in my freshman year at Erwin and we became friends, then later working at the Old Winn Dixie stores with him and Clarence. I dont think I ever met a nicer, more honest and genuine person. We sure had some fun times. Sending up prayers that God’s grace and mercy will be with you.
