Ronald Edward Lowery, 69, of Asheville, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, January 10, 2009, at the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center.
A native of Chattanooga, TN, and a resident of Asheville for the past 65 years, "Ronnie", as everyone knew him, was the son of the late Paul Otton Lowery and Glynne Parker Lowery. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Paula Jean Kennedy of Atlanta, GA, who died in 1993.
Mr. Lowery retired with 30 years of service from the BASF Corp. as an industrial drawtwisting machine operator. He was a 1958 graduate of Enka High School and he was a member of Starnes Cove Baptist Church.
Ronnie loved fishing and hunting and enjoyed God's great outdoors. He was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Alice Case Lowery of Asheville; a son Mack L. Lowery of Asheville; a daughter, Karen L. Russ of Asheville, and a son, Kirk E. Lowery and his wife, Patricia, of Black Mountain; two grandsons of Black Mountain; and a sister, Joyce Humes and her husband, Bill, of Highlandville, MO.
The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue with the Rev. Charlie Sams officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
His family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
