Rosa L. ‘Rose’ Rector Norton, 88, of Chuckey, TN, passed away peacefully Sunday in Greeneville, TN. She was a native of Marshall, NC and the daughter of the late Harley and Amy Plemmons Rector.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Norton, sisters, Frances, Edna, Strobie, Clara and Louise, and brothers, Carl, Fred, Herman, Floyd, Cleophas, Howard and Glenn.

Prior to retirement, Rose was employed by Drexel Furniture in Black Mountain in the assembly. She enjoyed bowling, dancing, feeding the animals and vanilla ice cream.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Honea and husband Paul; son, Gary Rice and wife Deborah; grandson, Phillip Rice and wife Sable; great-granddaughter, Riley Anne Rice; and very special friend and caregiver, Penny Senisson, We Love You.

A special thank you to Tammy, Kourtney, Chrystal, Kayla and Sheena of Amedisys Hospice of Greeneville for your compassion and care of Miss ‘Rosie’. She said you girls were “special”.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 22, 2022. Visitation will be from 1 until 2pm, with the funeral service at 2pm in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with Rev. Preston Church and Rev. Phillip Wishon officiating. Pallbearers will be Paul Honea, Phillip Rice, Mike Rector, Dennis Rector, Kevin Rector and Neil Lewis. Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.

If you prefer, make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association or to your local Veterans’ Organization in the name of Rose Norton.
