Rosa Morris Ray

August 25, 1905 ~ May 2, 1999

Rosa M. Ray, 93, of 27 Chatham Rd., Asheville, died Sunday, May 2, 1999 in a local hospital.

A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Aula and Edith Bishop Morris. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Lee Ray who died in 1957, a brother Edward A. Morris who died in WW II, and a sister Helen Morris Padgett who died in 1992. She was a teacher and Librerian for over 30 years in the Buncombe County School System, was a grauate of Cullowhee Technical College, a member of the North Carolina Association of Retired State Employees and attended West Asheville Baptist Church.

She is survived by a sister Dorothy Karkhoff of Fountain Valley, California.

Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at Calvary Episcopal Churchyard in Fletcher, with the Reverend Donald N. Welborn officiating.

Her family will receive 7-8:30 Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home Patton Avenue.
