Roy Honeycutt, 87, formerly of Alexander, died Wednesday, July 30, 2014. A native of Madison County, Mr. Honeycutt was a son of the late Lattie Reagan and Kitty Briggs Honeycutt. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma Mae Honeycutt, who died in 1995, son, Allen Gene Honeycutt, step-sons, Arnold and Howard Edward Roland, and siblings Agnes Metcalf, Clair Grindstaff, Maggie Honeycutt, Ruby Metcalf, and Arville Honeycutt. He as a member of Paint Fork Baptist Church and was the owner of Owl's Cafe. He is survived by his wife, Jessie Redmond Honeycutt; son, Lattie Honeycutt of Forest City; grandchildren, Katrina Lea Honeycutt of Columbia, SC, Lattie Dean Honeycutt, II, US Navy, Asa Bryan Honeycutt of Charlotte, and Chris Sherbert and wife Amanada of Boiling Springs; and sisters, Betty Stines and Mae Shook. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Sunday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Vince Whitt officiating. Interment will be at Ashelawn Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
