Roy Vance Sharpe passed away Thursday, May 25, 2023, surrounded by loving family at Mission Hospital.

Mr. Sharpe was born May 25, 1944, to the late Roy Rufus Sharpe and Mattie Vance Sharpe.

He was preceded in death by his wife Oma Sharpe. Sisters, Mary Jo Griffin and Shirley Robertson, and his former wife, Barbara Jean Sharpe and step grandson, Justin.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son Joseph M. Sharpe and his wife Jill; his granddaughter Jessie Honeycutt, her husband Jeremy and his pride and joy great grandson, Elam Vance; stepchildren, Derrick (Missy), Ron, Karen, and Scott (Anna); step Grandchildren Brandon, Tiffany (Josh), Holden, Neely, Madison, Lauren, and Theo; his loving sister Linda McFee; his brothers-in-law, Butch (Sharon) and Dean (Debbie); nieces and nephews, Anne, Leslie Gina, Angela, Keith, Robert, Edward, Clay and Rebekah, and his beloved bestie dachshund Boomer.

He retired after 41 years of dedicated service with American Enka. He enjoyed being a part of his square-dancing team for many years, which traveled all over the country and Europe. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed the game with many, especially his buddy Miller and his son Joe. He was a master welder and could build anything. He was a gentle giant of a man whose kindness and love will live in all our hearts forever. Until we meet again, We love you Pop.

A celebration of his life will he held at a later date.

  1. Knew Roy through golf buddies Collette Miller and Larry Ledford. We all used to play golf somewhere every week from NC ro Tenn. Great guy, that Roy. Spoke with him a few months ago and related to him Colletes condition now in a nursing home near where he lived with Geraldine his wife, Great guy too, Rest in peace, Roy.
