Ruby Alline Penland Austin

Ruby Alline Penland Austin, 93, flew away to glory on July 1, 2022.

She was a daughter of the late Pat and Daisy Penland and was also preceded in death by her son, Herschel Eddie Austin.

She is survived by her four children, Joseph Austin (Debbie), Patricia Chastain (Larry), Joyce Watts, and Linda Raines (Chuck); her grandchildren, Chris Chastain, Crystal Letterman (Mark), Rachael Austin (Jason), Angela Clark (Sam), Austin Raines, Caroleen Crowe and Craig Raines; as well as four great-grandchildren, Eden, Landon, Elijah and Isaac.

She was a hard working mother, and a loving grandmother. She was known as “Giggie” to her grand and great-grandchildren, and was always excited to see them! Gummies or chewing gum could always be found in her purse for her grandbabies. She loved her fur babies also. She attended The Salvation Army Church.

The funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. Pastor Allen Rash will officiate. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
