Ruby Pressley Green

Ruby Pressley Green, 84, of Candler, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 3, 2017. Ruby was a longtime member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, and a former member of the Upper Hominy Fire Dept. Auxiliary for 40 years. She and her husband also owned and operated Green's Grocery on Pisgah Highway in Candler for 40 years (formerly Pressley Grocery). She was preceded in death by her father, Elijah B. Pressley, Sr., mother, Bertha Davis McHenry, her loving husband James Henry Green, brothers, James Dewey Pressley and Elijah B. Pressley, Jr. and his wife Beverly Warren Pressley (whom she loved very deeply). Ruby was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and friend. She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Green, of the home, Rebecca Taylor and her husband Don of Candler; Sara Howell and her husband, Glenn of Candler, and Carleen Green of the home; grandchildren, Elizabeth Taylor (Scott) of Clyde, Donnie Taylor (Ruthie) of Candler; great-grandchildren, Brittany Trull, Taylor Trull, Tori Moody (Austin), Andrew Taylor, all of Clyde, Harmany Taylor of Candler; great-great grandchildren, Brylan, Emori, and Kennedy; brothers, Edward Pressley (Donna) of Asheville, Rev. Donald Pressley (Darleen) of Candler; Ronnie (Cindy) of Candler, James Pressley (Teresa) of Candler; sister Linda Pressley of Candler; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist church, with the Rev. Bobby Winebarger and Pastor Jeff Massey officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Ave., and thirty minutes prior to the service on Saturday.
