Russell "Russ" Ervin Slipher, Jr., of Asheville, died Tuesday, November 26, 2013.
A native of Charlotte, NC, he was the son of the late Russell E. Slipher, Sr. and Margaret Propst Slipher. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Schlie.
Russ is survived by two daughters, Stephanie Slipher of New York, NY and Lauren Slipher of Asheville as well as one sister, Dottie Gerow of Charlotte, NC.
A memorial service for Russ will be held at 11:00 AM on January 11, 2014 in the Redwood Chapel at Trinity Episcopal Church in downtown Asheville.
Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.

Dear Julie, Stephanie and Lauren:
Having just lost my dear husband, I understand only too well your sadness. There are no words to express the feelings. I didn’t know Russ very well but he was always so nice to me. I haven’t seen him in a long time. Some things about life and death are so hard to understand. Your dad is with you now and will be always. God Bless you all and his soul.
