Ruth Adaire Burns

Ms. Ruth Adaire Burns, age 64 of Asheville, and formally of Burke County, passed away Saturday, November 9th, in her home in Asheville, NC. Ruth was born to the late Willard Claywell Burns, Sr, and Odessa Branch Burns in Burke County. She was a hairdresser as a young adult. She worked for the City of Asheville as a bus driver for Mountain Mobility and worked in parking services. She loved trout fishing and playing bingo. She had many close friends in the area. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend and will be greatly missed. Along with her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her partner of 32 years, Lee Clement, and her brother, Willard Claywell Burns, jr. Those left behind to cherish her memory include a nephew, Michael Burns and his wife, Chelsea of Valdosta, GA; a niece, Heather Brown and her husband, Shannon of Columbia, and their children Clara and Kathryn; and numerous loving cousins. She is also survived by many adopted family members, Mary, Roxanne, Anita, Lucile, Vivian, Frank, and Monty "Honey Bunch of Cheerios." Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 16, 2013 in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Charlie Crump officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
