Ruth Ann Harper Hylton, 71, of Asheville, died on Monday, August 15, 2016, at the CarePartners Solace Center, following a long illness.
A native of Columbus, OH, Ruth was a daughter of the late Joseph and Florence Stiffler Harper. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Powell and Florence Flusche.
One of Mrs. Hylton's favorite hobbies was decorating cakes; a hobby she enjoyed so much, she began decorating professionally. In her free time, she loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Hylton had been a member of the Salvation Army Church, in Columbus.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Calvin Hylton, more affectionately known as "Poppy;" daughter, Laura Silvers (Tom); Tina Reyes, who was like a daughter to Mrs. Hylton; sister, Vickie Preest; brothers, Joseph Harper (Paula), Charles Harper (Nancy) and Jim Harper (Trisha)(Josie); grandchildren, Christopher Silvers (Jill), Casey Silvers (Candice) and Cody Silvers; step-granddaughter, Ashley Silvers; great-grandchildren, C.J., Colby, Jordan and Courtney; and special friends, Jack & Cathy Kelley, and Bob & Thelma Hagerman.
Mrs. Hylton's family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday evening at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. A memorial service will begin at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Gary Haynes officiating.
All though we have been separated by a few states and have not seen much of each other in the past years we have always thought of you. You will always be in our hearts. Rest IN Peace Ruth and dance with the other ANGELS. There is no more pain or suffering. GOD BLESS her family and be with them in their time of sorrow. We LOVE you all!!!
