Pauline Ruth Ballard, 70, of Asheville, died Monday, March 17, 2014, at the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center.
A native of Buncombe Co., she was a daughter of the late Clarence "Mac" and Edna Evelyn Jenkins McClellan. She was also preceded in death by brothers Walter and Richard McClellan.
Mrs. Ballard worked for Buncombe County Schools for twenty six years, including Johnston Elementary and Valley Springs Elementary Schools.
She is survived by her husband, Ambrose Eugene Ballard; a son, Randy Eugene Ballard; grandchildren Colton, Alyssa, and Madisyn Ballard; sister Lois Barrett; and brother Donald McClellan.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Arnold Vess officiating. Interment will follow at Reeves Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

She was like a mother to us all and cared for everyone she met and will truly be missed. Condolences and prayers go out to all the family.
Randy Ballard and family we are so sorry for your loss. Ruth was such an inspiration to all who met her,she was like everyones mother. We all lost an incredible lady but the Lord gained an awesome angel. We love you all and will continue to keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers. So Saddened to learn of Ruth’s passing. We have so many sweet memories of her, growing up and being neighbors in Reeves Cove for so many years. May God give you comfort and peace in the days to come. Please know that each of you are close in our hearts and prayers.
We were so sad to hear about Ruth. She worked with me VSM. We later found out were were related(Jenkins). You will all be in our prayers
