Ruth Elizabeth McLaughlin Rayburn, 89, of Asheville, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2023 at the Elizabeth House.
Born October 2, 1934 in Erwin, TN, Ruth was a daughter of the late William Issacc McLaughlin and Clara Lee Williams McLaughlin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Earl Junior Rayburn, sisters, Edna Arrowood and Stella McLaughlin Tittle, and brothers, Arthur McLaughlin, Joseph McLaughlin and Lewis McLaughlin.
She is survived by a daughter, Clara Rayburn Mizell (Doug); sons, Jay Rayburn (Sherry) and Jeffrey Rayburn; grandchildren, Paul Stockwell, Nita Stockwell Simmons, Stephen Stockwell, Karyn Stockwell Hoffelt, Charity Rayburn Hodges, Sgt. Jayme Rayburn and Timothy Rayburn; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at the Western Carolina State Veteran’s Cemetery, with Pastor Ronnie Owen officiating.
