Ruth Ellen Maynor, 84, of Asheville, died Thursday, July 7, 2005 in a local nursing home.
Born May 16, 1921 in Idaho, she was a daughter of the late Norman and Violet Thornton Osborn. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ted Cling Maynor and a brother, Vernon L. Osborn.
She met her husband while working in the cafeteria at Gallon Field Air Base. She also worked for several years in the cafeterias of Valley Springs Elementary and Estes Elementary, from which she retired.
She was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church and enjoyed craftwork at home, including crocheting, embroidering, making Christmas ornaments and ceramics.
Mrs. Maynor is survived by two sons, James Ted Maynor and his wife, Shannon of Asheville and Ronnie Maynor and his wife, Linda of Fletcher, three sisters; Joy Fisher and Eva Osborn of Boise, Idaho and Norma Yonida of Emmett, Idaho and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with the Rev. Douglas Guy officiating.
Interment will follow at the Chapel Hill Baptist Church cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 PM on Saturday at the funeral home.
