Ruth Hamlin Christopher, 75, of Asheville, died Saturday, December 6, 2008, at John F. Keever Solace Center.
A native of Madison County, she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Vada Fender Hamlin and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald and Dennis Hamlin.
Mrs. Christopher worked for the Buncombe County Schools for 23 years and was a former cafeteria manager at Venable School. She was a member of Reeves Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Robert E. Christopher; a daughter, Barbara Venos of Asheville; two sons, Steve Christopher and wife Wendy of Charlotte and Tim Christopher of Asheville; sisters, Margaret Frizzell, Faye Hamlin and Iva McKinney, all of Asheville; six brothers, Aaron Hamlin and wife Vera, Bill Hamlin, David Hamlin and wife Carol, all of Asheville, Eddie Hamlin and wife Sandra of Greer, Glen Hamlin and wife Sandra of Cruso and James Hamlin of Asheville; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 11:00 am Monday at Reeves Chapel United Methodist Church with Mr. James Odom officiating.
Her family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 pm Sunday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.

It was such an honor to be Ruths nurse for the last 4 years. No matter how you were feeling when you came into the office, you always took the time to ask about my family! You were such a sweet and thoughtful women! Ruth will greatly be missed!

I am so sorry to hear about Ruth. I remember her from her attending Reeves Chapel and working at Venable School. She was a blessing to many of us. We all loved her.
