Ruth Lucinda Huntley Frizsell

Ruth Lucinda Huntley Frizsell passed away Sunday, March 24th at her home with family by her side.

She was born March 26, 1933, in Buncombe County, to the late Otis C. and Irene Earwood Huntley. She resided in Asheville her entire life.

She was preceded in death by brothers Grady and Gayle Huntley, and sister Virginia Robinson. She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Lyda (Lee) and Brenda Dunlap (Mike); son, Terry Frizsell; a brother, Harvey Huntley and a sister, Linda Garren; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, five step-great grandchildren, one step great-great grandchild, along with several nieces and nephews.

As a faithful member of Gashes Creek Baptist Church, she served in many roles over the years. Her happiest moments were spending time with her grandchildren. Ruth worked at C.P. Clare, American Threshold, owner of a clothing store, and Gods World.

She enjoyed sports of all kinds, especially the Atlanta Braves. She bowled in several bowling leagues, and was known for her amazing fried chicken and proudly served it to her family every Christmas. She was a great supporter of her grandchildren and great-grandchild, and nothing made her happier that being around all of them.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday March 30, 2024, at Gashes Creek Baptist Church with the Reverend Mike Rogers officiating. The family will be receiving friends one hour before the service. Burial will follow in the Gashes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons TJ Lloyd, Jacob Frizsell, Jonathan Lyda, Adam Lloyd, Daniel Frizsell, and great-grandson Nathan Lyda.
