Ruth Morgan Howard

Ruth Morgan Howard, 94, of Asheville, died Sunday, December 16, 2007, at Aston Park Health Care Center. Mrs. Morgan was born in Andrews and was a daughter of the late Joe A. and Lissie Buchanan Morgan. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Harry K. Donaldson, Graham Reems and William P. Howard, a sister, Helen Morgan and a brother, Joe A. Morgan, Jr. Mrs. Howard was a graduate of Meredith College and spent her career teaching in the Asheville City School System. She retired as Dean of Girls at South French Broad Middle School. She was a member of the Rhododendron Club and a member of Central United Methodist Church. She is survived by her cousins, Frank Shull and his wife, Mary, of Asheville and Martha Ann Erwin of Erwin, TN; four nieces and nephews, Doug Morgan, Stanley Morgan, Annette Valdez and Sheila Morgan; second cousins Anna Lisa Collins and her husband, Paul, and their children Paul, III and Mary Ellen, and Michael Todd Shull; and special friends, Sue Green and Elaine Matheson. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Valleytown Cemetery in Andrews with the Rev. Paul Hacklander officiating. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is in charge of the arrangements.
