Ruth Schweer Moore

Asheville - Ruth S. Moore of Asheville died peacefully at Park Ridge Hospital on July 11, 2006. Ruth was born May 23, 1922, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Harry and Elsie Schweer. On March 17, 1950, she married the late LCDR USN Robert H. Moore of Wilmington, N.C. They were married 42 years and had two daughters. The family lived in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Maryland before settling in Asheville in 1963. Widowed in 1992, Ruth moved to Givens Estates in 1998. She was a member of Mills River United Methodist Church. She is survived by two daughters; Carol Moore Weast of Arden and Linda Moore DVM of Burlington, Vermont. Her son-in-law is Kenneth Weast. She also has two grandchildren, Emily Weast Fligg of Tucson, Arizona and her husband Eager, also Robbie Weast of Charlotte, N.C. and his wife Beth. The highlight of this past year was that Ruth was able to attend the weddings of both her grandchildren even though her health was starting to fail. There will be no local memorial service but Ruth will be interred with her husband at Arlington Cemetery in Washington, D. C. at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Ruth may go to Givens Estates Supplemental Assistance Fund at 2360 Sweeten Creek Rd, Asheville, N.C. 28803 or Asheville Humane Society at 72 Lees Creek Rd. Asheville, N. C. 28803. The family wants to thank the entire intensive care staff at Park Ridge Hospital for their tender, loving care to Ruth and her family during this time.
