Ruth Shroat Klutz Asheville – Ruth Shroat Klutz, 85, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Fairhope Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fairhope, AL. A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late William Otis Shroat and Bessie Lee Lewis Shroat. Ruth was also preceded in death by one brother, Roy Kenneth Shroat. A lifelong resident of Asheville, Ruth had lived in Mobile, AL for the past five years. She retired from Gerber with 24 years of service and was a member of Biltmore Baptist Church. She is survived by three sons, R. Kenneth Klutz and his wife, Debbie, of Longwood, FL, William "Bill" Klutz and his wife, Brenda, of Mobile, AL and Anthony "Tony" Klutz and his wife, Angie, of Murfreesboro, TN; six grandchildren, Laura, Katie, Savannah, Susan, John and Rachael as well as one great-grandson, Reid. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Calvary Churchyard. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday and 12:00-1:00 PM on Saturday, both at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to either The American Diabetes Organization (www.diabetes.org) or to Lighthouse for the Blind (www.lighthouse.org).
