  1. Dear Family & Wendy, Sorry to here about your sweet granny. She was a sweet and gentle woman. I only got to know her over the past few years but she made a great impression on me with her sheer determination. At her age, taking on new challenges and overcoming them. She will be missed. God bless each of you during this time

  2. I am so sorry to hear of ‘Mama’ Ramsey’s passing. She was a true southern lady. I was the manager for The Fabulous Wunz, and her son, Coleman, was the bass player and vocalist. Coleman inherited that sweet disposition from his Mom. He was a super talented musician. Mrs. Ramsey was always very supportive of the band and very kind to me. I have not seen her in several years but I will never forget her kindness and her beautiful eyes. Rest in peace, ‘Mama’.

  3. I will always remember Aunt Ruth as a very gentle soul! Spent many childhood hours with Aunt Ruth, Uncle Morris, Linda & Coleman in Asheville, NC and at Granny’s house in Mars Hill, NC! Many wonderful memories! Just know she is in Heaven rejoicing with Linda, Coleman & Uncle Morris! RIP Beautiful Lady!

  4. Cathy and family, my deepest and heartfelt condolences at the loss of your Granny Great. My prayers and thoughts are with you all. Love you dear friend.

  5. The world grew a little dimmer on Mama Ruth’s passing. As my friend and compadre Gary Garner stated so beautifully, we always thought of her as ‘Mama.’ The thing that struck me most about this great lady, and my wife Susie as well, was how she kept her smile even as her entire immediate family departed one by one. The only explanation for this is that the grace of God and His Son lived deep within her. May we never forget the lesson that comes from her smile. I was honored to sing at Ruth Ramsey’s service today, and wrote this song with her ever-present smile in mind.

    ‘She’ll Always Have Her Smile’

    She always kept her smile
    She was such a lady
    Her soft and gentle style
It made her such a lady
    When life was hard
    The road was dark
    She weathered every mile
    And through it all
    She always kept her smile

    For she was trusting Jesus
Her faith was tried and true
If Mama Ruth was here to tell us now
She’d tell us we should too

    She always kept her smile
No matter what life brought her
Grief is only for a while
It’s the lesson that life taught her
    Now she’s free
    Eternally
I see her with the Son
    She’s safe at Home
    And life has just begun
    Mama Ruth’s with Jesus
    And life has just
    Begun

  6. Dear Wendy and Family,
I am Ruth’s cousin Tina Davidson Buie from Mooresville. I am so, so sorry to find out about Ruth’s passing. I truly missed her Christmas Card this year, but didn’t make a connection that she may be gone as so many people don’t send cards anymore. I was going through some keepsake cards and found her cards that I have kept and called the cell number on it. A lady called back to say this was not Ruth’s number and that led me to search online to see if she had passed away.
She was my mother’s 1st cousin on the Burke side and they were very close until my mother’s death and I continued the communication each year. She was a sweet lady and wrote the best letters and cards.
All my love and prayers are with you during this time of adjustment. She will be missed by many.
