Ruth Pauline Wallen Worley, 83, of 30 Justice Ridge Road, Candler, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center.
Mrs. Worley was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Clinton D. and Elsie Black Ingle. She was also preceded in death by a step-daughter, Jane McGaha, who died in 1991. She worked as a secretary at American Enka for 42 years and she was a member of Mt. Moriah Wesleyan Church.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph Jennings (Jim) Worley; one son, Charles Ronnie Wallen and his wife, Barbara Dalton Wallen, of Candler; three step-daughters, Anita Green and husband, Walter, of Candler, Darlene Surrett and husband, Charles, of Canton, and Edna Willis and husband, Dean, of Canton; two step-sons, Joe Worley and wife, Brenda, and Jennings Worley and wife, Brenda, all of Canton; one sister, Eva Seay of Rock Hill, SC; a nephew, Jimmy Seay and a niece, Janice Kangas, both of Rock Hill; eighteen grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Marvin Watts officiating. Burial will be at Pisgah View Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Thad Surrett, Johnny Dalton, Gerald Roberts, Trent Sutton, Jodie Willis and Tommy McGaha.
The family will receive friends Sunday at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
