Ruth Warren Holcombe, 87, went to her eternal home to be with Jesus on Monday, February 12, 2024.

Ruth was born on March 23, 1936, in Asheville to the late Jack and Irene Jones Warren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lee Holcombe, Jr., who passed in 2021; and by her sister, Ruby Christine McIntyre.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan Darlene Brown (Bobby) and Kimberly Ann Holcombe Watkins; grandchildren, Heather Reed (J.D.), Kasey Holcombe (Jon), and Michael T. Watkins (Krystal); great-grandchildren, Jayden Reed (Anna), Kaleigh Holcombe, Kensleigh Miller and Haislee Watkins; great-great-grandson, Jase Reed; brother-in-law, Larry D. Holcombe (Gretchen); and many other family members and friends who knew and loved her as “Granny” and “Mamaw.”

Her family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. The funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Kelvin Moseley will officiate. Those in attendance will be invited to share a brief memory of Mrs. Holcombe during the service. Burial will then take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael T. Watkins, Jayden Reed, Michael Watkins, J.D. Reed, Jonathan Miller, and Bobby Brown.

Her family wishes to thank the staffs of both Aston Park Health Care Center and Four Seasons Hospice for the care and compassion they showed to Mrs. Holcombe.

Memorials may be made to the ASPCA, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or to The Wounded Warrior Project.
