In the 9th grade, instead of I worked for ‘Mr. Blake’ as his ‘secretary’ for the hours I had free on school days! I was 17, a senior at NBH – now I’m 69 and just found his obituary… 🙁 I even had to write a letter to the parents of my then boyfriend (who became my husband) about his skipping class!!! …with my initials at the bottom of the dictated letter!! Dr. Blake was not only a wonderful Guidance Counselor, he was also a wonderful person! I truly wish I had known of his passing before now so that I could have paid my respects to him and his family. I do believe I’ll see him in Heaven, because he was so kind, gentle of words, and such a pleasure to know and work for! North Buncombe High School was blessed with his guidance!!!
