Dr. Sandra J. (Ruegg) Chesborough

Dr. Sandra J. (Ruegg) Chesborough, age 81, formerly of Rochester, MN, passed away on Feb. 13, 2024 in Asheville, NC. The first-born daughter of the late Russell and Dena Ruegg, Sandra graduated from John Marshall High in 1960. She earned a B.S. in Elementary Ed from Winona State University, a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Minnesota and a PhD in educational leadership from the University of Florida.

Sandra taught at several universities and retired from St. Cloud State University, as a Department of Social Work professor. She dedicated her lifework to helping others, addressing social injustices and inequalities for those in need.

Sandra is survived by daughters, Andrea Bishop (Alan), Amber Chesborough (Gordon Bromley); grandchildren, Addyson, Aaron, and Alexa Bishop. Siblings Barbara Thiem, Susan Spielberger (Richard), Steven Ruegg (Robin), two nieces and two nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 21 at Carolina Memorial Sanctuary in Mills River, NC.
