Sandra Kay Brady, 64, of Floyd Brady Rd., died Sunday, July 24, 2011, at her home. A native of Buncombe Co., she was a daughter of the late James and Alene Whitaker Newman. She was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Rebecca Alene Moore and Caleb Austin Moore. Mrs. Brady worked for the Grove Park Inn, and was later employed with Hour Glass Cleaners for a number of years. She was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her husband, Donald Brady; a daughter, Cassie Revonda Meadows and husband Tim of Grey Court, SC; sons Jimmy Moore and wife Brenda of Asheville, Chester Moore and wife Stephanie of Candler, and Larry Moore and wife Jamie of Marshall; 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; sisters Glenda Nesbitt of Fairview, Shirley Lollis of Black Mountain, and Lynn Waldrop of Fairview; and by brothers Joe Newman of Fletcher, Jim Newman of Hickory, and Mike Newman of Fairview. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with Preacher Ralph Byars officiating. Interment will follow at Emma's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. All other times, the family will meet at the home of Jimmy Moore, 59 Wellington Dr., Asheville, NC, 28804. Memorials may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.

  10. I was thinking back on the times as a child when me and Gene would come home with Mom and Dad to visit. We always stayed close to Aunt Alene and family, and Sandra always made time to play with me, even though I was the ‘little kid’. Will always love and miss Sandra.   22. I am so sorry for your loss. Sandra was a great friend to me as well as most people she met.She had a kind and generous soul. I worked side by side with her for many years at Hourglass. We had many, many laughs together, as she had such a great sense of humor.After the loss of my husband, she was someone i was glad to see each day because she would always lift me up and get me through it.She always thought of my son, Dakota and was continually getting him little things. He has a heavy heart today because of her passing.To the family, be glad you had her for her lifetime. I am proud I had her for a short time. Rest in peace Sandra. I am honored you were my friend.
