Sara Yount Olup Asheville – Sara Yount Olup, 86, of Asheville, died Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Claremont, NC, she was a daughter of the late Robert Glen and Edna Shook Yount. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, John G. Olup; one daughter, Peggy Yarborough and her husband, Alan, of Asheville; one son, Roger Olup and his wife, Cathy, of Johnson City, TN; one sister, Loretta Huffman of Conover, NC; four grandchildren, John, Jessica, Nick and Jayme, as well as six great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Sara's life will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with the Reverend Ashley Crowder-Stanley officiating. Inurnment will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 10, 2011 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church Cemetery in Claremont. In lieu of flowers, the family graciously asks that in Sara's memory, you donate your time, efforts or money to those who are less fortunate and in need.

  1. I was truly grateful that I was able to visit with her 2 weeks ago. From the suffering I saw I know she is in a Better Place. To Uncle Johnny and the rest of the Family, peace and love be with you.

  3. Great Aunt Sara was so kind, sweet, loving, caring with such a huge heart. Every time we would come to visit the family she always made sure we were comfortable with plenty of food in our bellies. She will always be in our memories and more important in our heart! Love You Aunt Sara!!!
